LG Postpone the Tablet Computer

LG UX10
LG Electronics delays the launch of a tablet computer that would become a competitor of iPad that made by Apple Inc. until next year. The third largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world will focus on producing a smart phone to compete the iPhone. In fact, in July, LG said that they plan to produce a tablet computer in the first quarter of this year.

The plan is LG will release phones with Android system. A source said that the South Korean electronics giant will introduce the product at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, January. "LG still move slightly with the mobile phone software. While the hardware is complete," the source said.

A change in this plan was allegedly followed senior management changes at LG. The turn is a result of failures in seizing the mobile phone market. LG has targeted to sell 10 million units of Optimus One but failed to compete with Samsung Electronics Co.., Research In Motion Ltd. and Apple Inc..

With the changing of the plan, the LG may not be able to compete in the market for tablet computers next year. "Now, it is the best time to launch a computer to become a top," said Jeong Jae Im, Fund Manager of Shinhan BNP Paribas Asset Management Co..
