AMD, ATI |
For gamers who are fanatic to ATI-branded graphics cards, be prepare to be sad. Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), which is now the owner of ATI brand would turn off the name ATI in all graphics card products.
Although the ATI brand will not be used again, the brand for product lines such as the Radeon and FirePro will still be used. AMD will release a graphics card product by adding an AMD brand or else without an AMD brand. Especially for ATI Eyefinity will be converted into AMD Eyefinity. Products with this new name will be available on the market starting later this year.
AMD acquired ATI in 2006. Since then, AMD did not just focus on the development of computer processors, but began to focus on developing products that combine processors and graphics cards in a single chip with Fusion technology. The use of single names under the brand of AMD will likely to strengthen its position in future market.
